Start Together opened to provide a musician-focused recording studio space in Belfast, Northern Ireland. 

Our aim at the time was to develop a space where musicians could feel in charge of their own process, on the same team as the producers and engineers, rather than the battles and "know-it-all" attitudes that we had faced up 'til that point. We were tired of having our hands slapped off various mixing consoles, hearing "that's not how it's done" and being told "you wouldn't understand." 

 

Initially, we wished that artists from Northern Ireland would make their dream recordings here, rather than travelling to other countries, which was the norm at the time.

With every session we have grown and evolved to now offer a set of studios on par and in many ways way beyond most recording studios we've ever visited.

We have played a significant role in changing the landscape of recording in our country since opening 17 years ago. We've hosted thousands of sessions, recording, writing, mixing & mastering songs while simultaneously growing our facilities and set ups and impressing the importance of treating people well, sharing skills and developing a sense of community.

We're proud to hold the island's largest selection of drums, guitars, amplifiers, FX pedals, microphones, outboard and the best possible mixing console with our SSL 4000 g/g+ console, Studer a80 1/4" tape machine, ATC monitoring with Trinnov systems and a vast collection of classic analog and digital synthesisers including Moog Model D, Moog One, Arp2600, Oxford Synthesiser Company, Korg, Roland, Solina and more.

We have now hosted over 5,000 sessions across our studios for world-renowned artists including Rihanna, The Script, Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol) Sharon Corr, Tim Wheeler (Ash), Iain Archer, Foy Vance and breaking/cult artists And So I Watch You From Afar, General Fiasco, NewDad, Just Mustard, Ciaran Lavery for releases on labels including Universal, Jive/Zomba, Partisan, Bella Union, Domino Music, Believe, Bar/None, Big Scary Monsters, Slumberland, Black Bow Records, Burning World, New Heavy Sounds, Fantastic Plastic, Head of Crom, Xtra Mile, Third Bar as well as broadcasters including BBC 6 Music, ITV, BBC One, Sky Arts, MTV, BBC Radio One and many more.

With every session we continue to grow and learn, dedicated to improving every sessions final mixes, masters, songs or whatever you need us to help with.

We've developed great processes for analog mixing, stem mixing, mastering, drum productions, additional production elements, vocal editing & treatments and much more.
